Small details make big money.
People don’t abandon checkout “for no reason”. They leave because they get confused, scared, or tired.
Here are 12 UI details that often decide your conversion rate:
1) Don’t ask too much
Name + phone + address (if needed) is enough. Long forms kill sales.
2) Error messages must be clear
Not “Invalid input”. Say exactly what is wrong and how to fix it.
3) Payment options should be visible early
If a user doesn’t see a trusted payment method, they may quit.
4) Don’t wipe data on back/refresh
If the user goes back one step, keep their inputs.
5) Don’t reveal delivery price at the last second
Surprise costs = instant exit. Show delivery price early.
6) Show trust signals
SSL, bank logos, payment provider logos, return policy link.
7) Main button must be obvious
“Confirm order / Pay now” should be large and easy to tap.
8) Mobile keyboard must match the field
Phone field = numeric keyboard.
Email field = email keyboard.
9) Promo code should not be too aggressive
It should exist, but not scream at users and make them leave to “search a code”.
10) Loading state is mandatory
If payment takes time, show loader, otherwise users click twice and create issues.
11) Keep order summary visible
Products + total + delivery should be easy to see (top or side).
12) Support link helps a lot
WhatsApp/phone during checkout can save the order.
KeyTD mindset:
Checkout should be 1) fast 2) simple 3) trustworthy. That’s how you reduce abandonment.
